Getting ready for OASIS 2026: two accepted papers

On Wednesday, 28 October 2026, our team came together to rehearse presentations for two accepted papers at the 1st ACM SIGSPATIAL Student Challenge on Open Agents with Spatial Intelligence for Social Good (OASIS 2026), taking place on 3 November 2026 in Riverside, California.

The two projects explore how GeoAI agents can support decisions for social good, from flood risk assessment to equitable public health services. It was exciting to see the teams preparing to share their work with the SIGSPATIAL community!

HydroMind: A GeoAI Agent Framework for Open Geospatial Flood Risk Assessment

Track A · Disaster Resilience & Vulnerability Analysis

Team HydroMind: Yueting Wang, Eleanor Downie, Quangao Liu and Meiliu Wu.

Our accepted paper presents a GeoAI agent framework for open geospatial flood risk assessment. DOI: 10.1145/3849739.3856758 (forthcoming link).

A Human-in-the-Loop GeoAI Agent for Uncertainty-Aware and Equitable Siting in Public Health Services

Track B · Public Health & Spatial Equity

Team GeoMind: Fengjiao Li, Ayush Dabra, Yueting Wang and Meiliu Wu.

Our accepted paper focuses on a human-in-the-loop GeoAI agent for uncertainty-aware and equitable siting of public health services. DOI: 10.1145/3849739.3856757 (forthcoming link).

First conference adventures ahead

Eleanor and Yueting will be attending SIGSPATIAL for the first time—and it will also be their first academic conference as PhD students. I’m so excited for them to share their research, meet the community and experience their first conference together. Congratulations to both teams on their accepted papers!

Of course, a wonderful group meal followed the rehearsal—a lovely way to celebrate the work and spend time together before the conference.
